Giordano's
Chicago, Illinois
Downtown Chicago (Multiple Locations)
When I first arrived in Chicago I had to Uber from the bus stop to my hotel. During this interesting ride I asked the driver her thoughts on where I could get the best deep dish pizza in Chicago I had so famously heard about. She poised me with several options but recommended Giordano's as the authentic experience. The one near my hotel was not too far away. There was a sleek bar downstairs and upstairs, More of a restaurant setting. I had a personal Pizza meal that came with some crispy French fries, generously dusted with parmesan and various herbs.
Cutting into the Pizza was a delight. I got to finally see the inner workings of the famous Chicago delicacy. Thick layered cheese and a fresh crust that I couldn't wait to get a piece of. The tomato sauce really balanced how rich the serving of cheese was and made it a perfect mouthful combination of cheese, sauce and crust. The ranch I ordered was also exemplary- most pizza places its a hit or miss wether it'll be fresh ranch or something thats been sitting on the shelf for a year. Perfectly creamy and cold, with the slight garlic hint.
I got the sense that its a very popular destination for Lunch with coworkers in Chicago and to go with that the staff are moderately speedy if you need them to be. The furniture is actually a very interesting contraption if you look at some of the tables. They unfold triangles from under the main table to make a larger table for larger parties. Very efficient.
